March 15th 2003 was a banner day for an unknown band known as "River Mud". "We felt that we had to get out there and get re-aquatinted with playing in front of an audience. It had been years since any of us had done that." said River Mud front man Bob Carlson. The response was unbelievable. Almost 200 people showed up at a small bar in Wolcott just to see them play as an opening act. At this point they realized that they had something special and there was no choice but to continue.

Comprised of a group of veteran musicians who work together at the Siemon Company in Watertown, the band was formed as a gift to the company as part of the organization's 100 year anniversary celebrations in 2003. "The idea of forming a band of all Siemon employees to help celebrate the centennial was very well received by the members as well as the company. It also gave a group of guys who only knew each other through work and special projects a chance to become friends." explains Domenic Mainella bass player. The main reason for the formation of the band was to play at Siemon's Centennial Picnic in August 2003. Once the band started getting together and practicing, it became apparent that the project would turn into more than just playing a few songs at the company picnic, and the band took to the bars.

River Mud plays a broad range of cover music from classic rock, Motown and disco, to pop, to some heavier classic rock. According to Chris Soricelli, lead guitarist "Our mix of music includes something for everyone. The compliment that I get most is that people love the range of music. We can get the girls dancing and the metal heads head banging in the same set, which from what I've seen is pretty rare." Even Carl Siemon, President of the Siemon Company, walked away impressed "I heard that these guys were good", said Carl, "but when I heard them perform live at the Centennial picnic, I realized that they were really good. I say, it's good to have some River Mud in the blood. Rock on!"
